In comparison with DIN EN 737-3, the "Aer medicalis" monograph in the European Pharmacopoeia appendix includes significantly altered purity characteristics. Especially the drastic reduction of the dew point temperature to -46°C atmospheric (which corresponds to 67 ppm V/V) presents considerable challenges. The value of 67 ppm V/V for water equates to the condensation point at a pressure of 200 bar and a temperature of 11 ºC. This limitation of water content up to the condensation point is necessary as water condensation can cause corrosion damage and additionally promote microbial growth.
